Kalli & Spencer’s Wedding Day at The Capitol Room St. Peter, Mn
Kalli and Spencer’s wedding at the Capitol Room in St. Peter, Minnesota took place on a mostly rainy day. That didn’t stop everyone from celebrating with the couple by fully enjoying the splendor of this historic wedding venue. The Capitol Room is full of warmth and beautiful indoor spaces for photography. It’s an exciting part of St. Peter’s history and beautifully transformed into a wedding venue.
Getting Ready at the Capitol Room
The Lilian Cox Bridal Suite upstairs at the Capitol Room is spacious and full of natural light even on a rainy day. The bridesmaids’ lounge is decorated in a fun style that mixes mid-century modern with old Hollywood glam. It’s the perfect atmosphere for getting ready like Kalli did: with your besties and sisters in matching floral robes while sipping champagne.

Emotions were high as Kalli got into her dress in the private vintage style bridal room. When Kalli’s twin sister saw her for the first time everyone got a little misty eyed. The soft cloudy day window light made for the most romantic bridal portraits.

A First Look in the Capitol Ballroom Ceremony Space
The Edison bulbs and vintage chandeliers sparkled in the ballroom for Kalli and Spencer’s first look. The stood in front of the twinkling light strings and ceremony arch to see each other for the first time. It was beautiful and emotional and perfect. They posed for a portrait in front of the ceremony arch and then took a practice walk down the aisle.

Capitol Room St. Peter Indoor Portraits
Indoor wedding portraits on a rainy day are fun at the Capitol Room! The glowing atmosphere and little corners are styled perfectly with the exposed brick and vintage furniture. Group and family pictures were done in the main ballroom, and then I took the couple to the vintage sofa in the corner, as well as upstairs for a variety of portraits.

St. Peter Wedding Ceremony in the Capitol Ballroom
The ceremony was beautiful in the ballroom. Kalli walked down the aisle talking to her dad, with candles and flower petals lining their path. The large ceremony space had enough room for the wedding party to comfortably stand. A a symbolic sand ceremony was done, and everyone listened intently to the officiant’s words of wisdom for the couple.

Ballroom wedding reception at the Capitol Room St. Peter
The ceremony space was quickly flipped for the reception. After emotional speeches and a fantastic dinner Kalli and Spencer had some fun cutting their cake. Then it was time for them to participate in a Capitol Room tradition and carve their names on a brick in the ballroom.

Dancing the night away at your wedding.
After the meal was ended, the cake cut and the brick carved it was time to party. The first dance was followed by more dancing and celebration, including a caricature artist to entertain the guests.

Sunset Wedding Portraits in Front of the Capitol Room
At the end of the night we stepped outside and finally the sun showed itself. We were able to catch the last of the golden spring sunset reflected against the building before I said goodnight.
