Courthouse Wedding in St. Paul, Mn

Springtime Courthouse Wedding in St. Paul, Mn

This courthouse wedding in St. Paul, Minnesota is the perfect example of how a city elopement can be intimate even in a public setting.

This couple created a day that fully celebrated them, including their love of closest family members and friends.. They were wed with a marriage ceremony at the Ramsey County Court House in downtown St. Paul.  They chose to keep things easy, and planned for photos of their family, the ceremony, and special portraits together.

Why Choose A Court House Wedding in St. Paul, MN?

Choosing to have a courthouse wedding in St. Paul is ideal if you’re planning an elopement or intimate micro-wedding.  The St. Paul City Hall and Ramsey County Courthouse are both beautiful examples of Art Deco architecture from the 1920’s.

The Ramsey County Courthouse has an elegant interior of limestone, wood, and marble.  The lobby has intricate geometric designs.

Before the ceremony, the energy was joyful and emotional in the best way.

The couple spent time greeting their guests, and getting important pictures with their families. This created a really grounded start to the day, as well as built up the natural excitement of the elopement ceremony to come.

Wedding Ceremony inside Ramsey County Courthouse

The couple had their marriage ceremony in a courtroom at the Ramsey County Courthouse.

With a smaller group, the experience felt immersive and so intimate.  Guests were engaged and emotional as they watched the two say their vows.

I always like to guide couples through portraits in a way that feels natural and unforced, giving direction and also leaving space for movement and real emotion.

What do you wear for your St. Paul elopement at the courthouse?

Keep things minimal and simple, just like the rest of your plans.

I love what everyone wore that day.  Guests were dressed in spring time elevated casual, and the couple chose a white dress and suit.  Deep green is the perfect non traditional suit color for a spring wedding in Minnesota, since it celebrates new beginnings through marriage.

One of my favorite parts of elopements is taking couples on a little tour of the area they elope in.  It’s so fun to explore and find pretty spots that you might not notice when you’re in St. Paul unless you take the time to slow down and look.
