Photography For A Hindu Wedding in Minneapolis
Val & Jeet were looking for a wedding photography experience for their Hindu Wedding in Minneapolis that would mesh well with their traditions. Because their wedding was unique and deep with love for their heritage. They needed a photographer who was willing to go with the flow of their day and document what was happening. One with flexibility for their events on two different days, and the ability to plan quick and beautiful portraits in between all of the traditions and receptions.
After we discussed their plans they felt confident I had solutions for them that would make their photography go smoothly and be unforgettable.

A Two Day Hindu Wedding In Minneapolis
There were two parts to their Hindu wedding in Minneapolis that the couple wanted me to document. The first was their traditional wedding ceremony held in the evening at their temple. This was a smaller celebration, centered on tradition and the people who were closest to them in life.
Before the ceremony, Val and Jeet wanted to spend a little time together away from the excitement of the wedding day. We headed to Boom Island where the Minneapolis skyline rose in the distance. It was the perfect way to begin a Hindu wedding in Minneapolis that balanced meaningful traditions with time spent together.
Boom Island Park is a favorite portrait location for many Minneapolis wedding photographers. The setting felt peaceful and unhurried, giving them a chance to connect with one another before joining their families at the temple. Those quiet moments are some of the most cherished memories of a wedding day, and they created a wonderful beginning to a weekend centered on love, family, and tradition.

Traditional Hindu Wedding Ceremony at Shri Gaayatri Mandir
This traditional wedding ceremony was rich with symbolism, weaving together their traditions to honor love, family, and faith. Each ritual served as a meaningful step in the couple’s journey, celebrating not only their commitment to one another but also the support and blessings of the families and community surrounding them.
Their ceremony was also unique because it blended Hindu wedding traditions from the different regions Val and Jeet’s families were from.
Shri Gaayatri Mandir is a place where faith, family, and tradition come together. The temple’s welcoming atmosphere is reverent, traditional, and intimate. This made it the perfect setting for the couple, who wanted to keep things simple and include only their closest friends and family for their Hindu wedding in Minneapolis. They wanted their ceremomy at Shri Gaayatri Mandir to bring together their faith, family, and community in a meaningful way without too many complexities.

Minneapolis Hindu Wedding Traditions and Ceremony Details
Photographing this ceremony was an incredible honor. Every Hindu wedding in Minneapolis is unique, but what stood out most about this celebration was the way it blended family traditions from different regions while remaining deeply personal. One of the reasons I got into wedding photography was because I enjoy photojournalism- documenting real life as it happens- and that’s exactly what the purpose of their ceremony photography was.
The Groom’s Entrance was probably my absolute favorite part to photograph because the only way to capture it was to be right there in the action. I had to step into the movement of the crowd so no one was blocking my view, and being immersed in that energy was an incredible honor.
It’s very easy as a photographer to get swept away in colors and details during a traditional Hindu ceremony like this one. However, what stayed at the front of my mind was documenting everything in a way that honored the couple and their commitment to one another.
This Hindu wedding in Minneapolis celebrated not just the union of two people, but the joining of two families and their shared traditions. Every color, piece of decor, and step in the ceremony is important—but always in the context of Val and Jeet’s marriage story.

A Joyful Flower Petal Blessing
The flower-petal blessing at the end of the ceremony was another of my favorite parts to photograph because I was right in the middle of everything (and I think it was also many guests’ favorite moment too!). As petals filled the air, so did genuine smiles and excitement from everyone in attendance.
The combination of movement, color, and authentic emotion created the kind of images I love most. These pictures feel just as joyful later as they did in real time. Moments like these are part of what makes photographing a Hindu wedding in Minneapolis such a rewarding experience.

A Como Zoo Conservatory Wedding Reception in Minneapolis
The second day of their wedding weekend was a Minneapolis wedding reception at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in the Covered Porch. This was an American style reception, with an extended group of relatives and friends attending the celebration.
Marjorie McNeely Conservatory is one of my very favorite Minnesota wedding venues. My first wedding assistant job when I was starting out was there, and I’d never been inside before that experience. It has always held a sense of magic, fun, and romance for me, and it remains an incredible place for a meaningful wedding reception.
The evening was filled with speeches, music, dancing and so much love.
