Planning your Chaska Mn arboretum wedding
Of all the lush green spaces to get married in the Minneapolis area, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska is one of the best. They help plan and host all sizes of weddings, and offer a huge variety of indoor and outdoor green spaces for your ceremony and portraits.
This venue is high on my list of favorites, especially for intimate weddings, because the opportunities for photography are endless here in all seasons.
So I was more than a little excited when Christina and Robert came to me in need of a photographer. Their challenge for me was to navigate the natural light of mid-day and get portraits with them at multiple spots around the arboretum, including all of the waterfalls. Christina wore two dresses that day. One dress for first look and ceremony, and a second light weight dress to walk around the arboretum grounds afterwards.

Greenhouse portraits & first look for your arboretum wedding.
When you’re having an arboretum wedding in the hot Minnesota summer an indoor first look will help you stay out of the heat. Which is why we chose to do a first look in the arboretum greenhouse.
Fun fact: the Greenhouse was also the backup location for the ceremony in case of rain. I love that the arb has back up indoor ceremony spots ready to go for couples concerned about the weather.
I adore these greenhouse portraits. There’s something romantic and whimsical about the greenhouse that makes me go there every time I visit the arb.

Intimate arboretum wedding ceremony at a waterfall.
The waterfall ceremony area at the arboretum is best for weddings with 50 guests or less. Robert and Christina invited only their closest family and friends for the ceremony. And their puppy Emmy was the dog of honor.
At the end of the ceremony they walked through bubbles before doing family portraits in the waterfall area.

Can you bring your dog to your Mn Landscape Arboretum wedding?
Bobby & Christina’s pup Emmy was their dog of honor. At the time of this wedding dogs are allowed to be there for the ceremony only. So she had some quick portraits with her humans immediately after and then needed to go home. It was a lot of excitement for her.

Photography in nature for your arboretum wedding.
When we finished up at the ceremony area it was time for Christina to change into her second dress. We started our walk around the grounds to visit more waterfalls. The sun was still high in the sky but the arboretum offered shade, and combined with some strategic angles these mid-day wedding portraits in natural light turned out full of vibrant summer colors Their photography was a celebration of their relationship and the beauty of nature surrounding them as they wed.
