Mortificator is a local thrash metal band that plays shows in the Minneapolis St. Paul area. I met them after my husband’s band played a show with them.
During our shoot the band received the grand tour of Belle Plaine. We hit up Veterans park, the tunnel beneath highway 169, a few back roads, and a cemetery! Their shoot turned out very amazing, with just the right amount of edge. The guys were all a joy to work with too. Shoots like this are really enjoyable for me. I get to flex my creative muscles, try out new things and play with location lighting. I end up using the techniques I come up with during band shoots in other areas of photography like weddings. Even though the subject matter is different, the lighting conditions tend to be similar.
