Belle Plaine Minnesota Couples Photographer

Jenna and Jeff are an amazing couple. When we planned the shoot they mentioned that they enjoyed exploring new places, and so explore we did.  We spent an afternoon on a little tour of Belle Plaine’s best photography spots.  It was a photo shoot, and it was a date too.

We started in the historic downtown area, where beautiful old brick and hidden alley ways made for some modern and dramatic pictures.  Jenna’s bright floral top and Jeff’s neutral colors looked amazing in front of the big orange wall on Main Street.  It was a little windy, and a little chilly, but really that was a good excuse to have them snuggle together.

We made a stop over at the historic Hooper-Bowler-Hillstrom House and Court Square Park, where the snow was really deep.  We stayed outside on the front step  just long enough to capture a sweet moment on the front steps.

Then, to our surprise, a member of the Belle Plaine Historical Society showed up, and invited us in to the house to shoot there!  This is why I love my little town.  Everyone you meet is so friendly and kind.  We were able to take pictures in the sweet light of the parlor, with vintage furniture, and we went on a private tour of the house.

Hiking the Minnesota River Valley at Belle Plaine

After we had warmed up we headed down the road about half a mile to the River Valley for a hike.  Our goal was to find an old oak tree I had seen in the fall that had a heart shape in the trunk.  The Minnesota River Valley contains some of the oldest trees in our state.  I’d have to guess this one was at least a century old.  The trunk was bigger than both Jenna and Jeff together.

The light down by the river is magic in the late afternoons.  I’m absolutely in love with how all these pictures turned out.  The shots we did down in the river valley are magical! There’s something really romantic and beautiful about being in a forest next to a century old tree, and realizing how big nature is compared to yourself.

We finished up the shoot just as the last orange flashes of the sunset were filling the sky.  This was such a fun day!  Sometimes the best reason to have pictures together is just because you can.  This type of  couple’s session is one of my favorites.  A photo shoot just because because, to celebrate your life and relationship as it is.
