Madison and Joe’s wedding at Ridges of Sand Creek in Jordan, Minnesota was a classic southern Minnesota wedding day, complete with an early afternoon ceremony, a party bus ride to the Ney Nature Center, a stop in Joe’s home town of Henderson to visit Charlie Neisen’s Bar, and a high energy reception.

Ridges of Sand Creek Wedding in Southern Minnesota

Here are some important things to know about this wedding. Madison wanted to get ready with her bridesmaids and family without a photographer.  She wanted complete quiet time, and my job was to offer a solution for that.  Our schedule included time before the ceremony to capture bridal details.  The couple also elected to exchange notes but skip a first look.  So the solution to this was a party bus ride that included stops for portraits after the ceremony.  They used a longer cocktail hour at Ridges at Sand Creek for their guests.  This allowed extra photography time for the bridal party.

Speaking more of details, her classic gold foiled invitation suite was designed by me and printed through my partner Basic Invite.  Wedding invitation design is very fun. I love that I can give couples custom invitations, because me doing the work instead of the couple trying to DIY makes things easier for them.  I’m all about ease and convenience for my couples.

Love that sparkle.  Madison’s hair comb and double tear drop earrings.

Bridal portraits give you a chance to relax and laugh away the nerves before your ceremony.

This celebrating down the aisle shot is one of my favorite parts of a wedding.
The guy’s portraits were completed at the church before the ceremony.
It’s fun to add a little depth to portraits with the bride and maid of honor front and center.

Okay, one more kiss.
Portraits in the mid afternoon sun always benefit from a little shade.
I love this old building at Ney Nature Center. Perfect for portraits when you come from a farming family and want a bit of that reflected in your photography.
Wedding portraits outdoors can be simple and still look elegant.
