Ta & Paul’s Barn Wedding at Rubies and Rust

This wedding at Rubies and Rust was amazing.  We started the day getting ready at the historic farmhouse.  Then moved on to a ceremony and reception under the historic vaulted ceilings of the beautiful barn.  We also made sure to enjoy the sunset and get beautiful evening portraits on the dirt road outside the farm.

Some things you won’t know about this wedding at Rubies and Rust just by looking at the photos:  The heat index was over 100 degrees for this wedding, and winds were gusting through the farm fields.  I realized right away we needed some adjustments to the wedding photography plans and was ready with solutions that still achieved the pictures Ta and Paul were hoping for.  We simply moved group pictures to locations like the back of the barn and side yard that are sheltered from the wind.

Rubies and Rust did a wonderful job of relocating the ceremony from the field to inside the barn.  The venue is great about making adjustments for the weather, and that’s one thing I love about them.    Everyone had frequent breaks to stay hydrated and get out of the sun. Ta and Paul are so easy going and positive.  Everything about their wedding day turned out beautifully.

A single blue gem in Ta’s bouquet in memory of her father, who passed before the wedding.

When it’s 100 degrees by noon, moving the first look inside the farmhouse is a good plan, plus Ta’s expression in the mirror is priceless.

Sunset Portraits For Your Wedding

Living in Belle Plaine, I have plenty of experience with how quickly the weather can change.  I knew that sunset would bring relief from our challenging weather conditions.  The winds died down.  The temperature dropped.   The light was perfect, and we were able to create some seriously beautiful family portraits.  I made sure Ta and Paul’s two little girls were included in the wedding day.  This short break from the reception was the perfect way to for their famil to get fresh air, and have special portraits together.

After sunset portraits were finished everyone went back to the barn and spent the rest of the night having a really good dance party.  Ta & Paul’s Minnesota barn wedding at Rubies and Rust in Belle Plaine was awesome.

A big thank you to Ta & Paul’s wedding team:
